Maintenance

HVAC maintenance and tune-ups

A dirty coil, a tired capacitor or a worn belt can stop a system on the hottest day. A tune-up looks at them first.

What a tune-up looks at

The same short list that decides most repair calls, checked before it fails:

  • The condenser coil, cleaned if it is dirty
  • The filter and the airflow behind it
  • Capacitors and the condenser fan motor
  • Blower belt and bearings
  • Thermostat wiring
  • Refrigerant charge

Before and after

A condenser coil caked with dirt works harder to do less. The same coil after cleaning is on the Home page, from a real job.

When to book it

Before the first hot week and before the first freeze. A system that has been looked at calls less often in the middle of the night. The estimate is free.

Questions

Questions people ask

When should I book a tune-up?

Before the first hot week for cooling and before the first freeze for heating.

Do you charge for an estimate?

The estimate is free.

Does a tune-up lower the bill?

A clean coil and filter let a system do the same work with less effort. If the bill jumped, the guide on a high energy bill lists what to check.
